Cinco de Mayo in Grand Prairie

Happy Cinco de Mayo! For those of you who are looking for something fun and festive to do this weekend, you came to the right place! Here are some fun ideas for Cinco de Mayo in Grand Prairie.

1. Cinco de Mayo Parade Downtown – May 4

Make plans to come out to downtown Grand Prairie for the annual Cinco de Mayo Parade and Celebration.  A community parade gets the fun started at 10 a.m.  and festivities continue at City Hall, noon until 6 p.m. The celebration includes Grand Prairie ISD performers, mariachi bands, folkloric dancers and vocalists, Tex-Mex festival foods, bounce houses, an art contest and more.

2. Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Traders Village – May 4

Traders Village will be celebrating Mexico’s 1862 victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla, now called Cinco de Mayo. There will be live music from 12 different bands and fun on THREE different stages at Traders Village on May 4-5. The music starts at 11 am under the Blue Expo and noon under the Big Red Patio each day.

3. Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark’s Wave Pool Grand Opening – May 4

This might not be a Cinco de Mayo specific celebration, but you can still celebrate Cinco de Mayo at the waterpark! Join Epic Waters for a day filled with live music, food and more as we celebrate the opening of the wave pool!

4. Kentucky Derby Day – Live Thoroughbred Racing – May 4

Everything is bigger in Texas, including our hats for Kentucky Derby Day! Head out to Lone Star Park to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a night at the races! Gates open at 10:30 a.m. and the first live race is at 1:35 p.m.

4. The Oasis Restaurant – May 5 – 7

This might not be your traditional Cinco de Mayo celebration, but it’s definitely a good time! The Oasis is Grand Prairie’s floating restaurant on Joe Pool Lake and all weekend they have live music in the bar and patio. This is the perfect place to watch the sunset, grab you a margarita and celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
